How it all started
Psalm Drummers was founded in 1996 by drummer/percussionist Terl Bryant.
While on tour Terl had a vivid dream where a group of drummers were gathered together playing a loud and powerful rhythm and the word “Psalm” was written above them. From this Terl sought to gather drummers together to worship and seek God’s purposes for them.
Vision at the heart of Psalm Drummers – Terl Bryant (Oct ‘08)
I hold to a prophetic vision that God is gathering Psalm Drummers in these times with intent to fulfil specific tasks. It has become clear that we have been privileged in a pioneering role to do as Ephesians 3:10 states:
“To the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places.”
Psalm Drummers have come to see a powerful release of God’s Spirit as we have gathered drummers to declare His name and presence on various occasions.
Perhaps most visibly at:
- The Call (Madjedski Stadium) in 2004,
- Summer Madness (Belfast) in 2005,
- Calling All Nations (Berlin Stadium) in 2006,
- Heart to Drum (Reading) in 2007,
- and in St. Georges Chapel (Windsor) in 2008.
There are many stories and testimonies from groups in other countries and from less profiled events as well. There is a pattern in the timing of Psalm Drummers appearing prior to a release and work of the Spirit of God through local and national ministries.
I have come to see that Psalm Drummers have a ‘gate opening’ work, through which the ministry of the gospel can be accomplished. It is a strategic work as part of the Holy Spirit’s call to the body of Christ in these times. We have received repeated prophetic words about ‘gates’ and ‘open doors’ to confirm this.
“Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.” Psalm 24:7
