Psalm Drummers share a vision and sense of calling to declare God’s Word orally and rhythmically as an act of prophetic worship. The vision of Psalm Drummers came through a dream described here.
“I dreamt I was standing in a semi-circle with a number of other drummers. We were worshipping and declaring God’s kingdom by pounding our drums in a strong unison pattern. It was as if we were on duty and called together for this moment. I was working hard. I could sense the others were too. It was very physical and the sound of the drumming was powerful and relentless. I then recognised there was a song, and as I joined in I realised it was from Psalm 97, “The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice”. It was a repeating refrain with all the sense of the proceeding line, “righteousness and justice are the foundations of His throne”, captured within it. I knew I was privileged. I was in awe and at the same time fearful, my head was bowed because the light of God’s presence was so bright. Beams of intense light were shooting past us with smoke billowing up all around. Then I saw the word ‘PSALM’ written in capital letters. When I woke up I was not the same, I was inspired and moved.”
